Introducing Gillian Larmond aka “Lady …… “
Welcome to this month’s issue of our newsletter which greets you in the colors of our national flag in honour of our country’s 47th Independence. Have no fear, we will return to our normal Manning’s colors in the next issue but this month was all about Jamaica.
So, let’s kick things off with our first feature story. Now imagine you’re driving through Savanna-La-Mar on a Saturday morning and you’re listening to the radio. It will most likely be Vybzfm, the community station, and you’ll probably be hearing an intelligent, smooth and sophisticated “Lady” playing some sweet music. The voice emanating from your speakers, is most probably that of Gillian Larmond aka Lady ……… well, let’s just keep it a mystery for the time being.
Gillian attended Manning’s between 1981 to 1985. She did not go on to 6th form but instead went to Montego Bay Community College to study business. Gillian still has vivid memories of her time at Manning’s e.g. One afternoon, during lunch break when she was in her classroom studying for a test that was due to take place immediately after lunch.
